Le Barman Universel

Over the years, we’ve been called bar chefs, mixologists, drinkologists, drink artists – the list is as long as we are creative. But our proudest title is the simplest: Barman. It’s not a fad or trend but a sign of respect and a symbol of our passion. So we come together, from every corner of the globe to form Le Barman Universel, a community and website by the Barman for the Barman. We are dedicated to improving our skills and our entire profession.

How we began

Some of us work together, but we live around the world. We meet up and share ideas, but it doesn’t happen quite often enough. We wished for a way to keep in touch better, to learn from one another and collaborate, and so we created Le Barmen Universel.

Our Name

In French, Le Barman Universel is equivalent to ‘the versatile or accomplished bartender’…a bartender with well-rounded knowledge and diverse qualities who is as good at talking to customers and managing staff as he or she is at making cocktails.

Our name is borrowed from one of the classic French cocktail books. To us, it represents our heritage and our dedication to elevating this profession and the whole industry around the world.

Who Belongs

We are a close group, brought together by a passion and desire for professionalism, diversity and friendship. We welcome skilled bartenders from across the globe to share their ideas and learn from ours. Sante bonheur!

Our Backing

Le Barman Universel was born out of discussions among a close group of Brand Ambassadors for Grey Goose vodka, and our desire to keep in touch and share industry information more easily around the world. As a result, the community is able to be funded and supported by Grey Goose and is a premier way they give back to the trade. As you will see, the content of the site includes discussions of all types of spirits, brands, trends, and activities because the main goal of the community is to be a truly valuable resource for every top bartender.
